Okay, I hear you. So does God. Okay, so you are struggling in your walk with Him. You’re pretty sure your big problem is compromise – just enough God to love Him – just enough sin to continually feel guilty and unable to come into His presence.
When you find yourself in this kind of jam you will be miserable, because you have fallen under the condemnation of the law. You know how you are living is wrong, but you can’t seem to find the way out. As long as you keep trying to be good you will utterly fail. And I do mean utterly, completely, absolutely. You cannot live in both worlds. You have to choose. That’s the bad news. However, the bad news is also the good news!!!
“What was that you said?” you ask. “What did you say?” I said the bad news is actually the good news.
You must choose, and you must choose God! Stop worrying about what the church says you should do, or preachers, or your lover, or your friend, your Mama or your Daddy or your boss-man. Go somewhere off by yourself and kneel down, sit down or fall on your face…whatever works for you. Then pour it all out to God. Tell Him how wretched you feel —- and alone. You will find Him there. He is right there in that spot.
Don’t at this point start trying to bargain with Him. He doesn’t make bargains. Don’t try to save yourself. He already paid the cost for that! Don’t try to save any thing for yourself. You have to give it all into His hands. Be completely honest with Him. He already knows all about everything in your life anyway. Tell Him you want to know Him. You want to walk with Him. Tell you believe in Him and that Jesus died for you to have peace with Him.
Ah, now your are getting somewhere.
Now don’t fall into the next trap – which is to ask Him what you should do. No that is not what He is after. He has already done it all. He is after you. All of you. He wants to do what He wants to do THROUGH you. This is the crucial point. This is where you say, I want you no matter what it costs. I don’t know what to do next. I want to be your little child. I need you more than anything. Help me.
Ask Him to forgive you, and then thank Him. Because you will suddenly know that you are forgiven!
He wants to be first in your life. There is no other way!
Here are the steps made simple:
- Get alone.
- Tell Him you want Him no matter what it costs.
- Tell Him you will obey Him, no matter what He asks of you.
- Lay everything down at His feet. I do mean EVERYTHING – dog, cat, house, kids, lover, spouse, friends…..
- Trust Him. He will work everything out so fast you will be shocked, but you have to be willing to obey.
- Believe that if He asks you to do something difficult, He will give you His grace to do it. Not only that, He will also make the way possible for you to do it.
- He will show you the way, if you truly give Him yourself.
- Until you do this, you will be wandering in the wilderness.
Now read all of the above several times until you really “get it” in your heart, mind and spirit, and then go do it.
Love,
Deborah
